Gyro Tech™; Whisper Slider Receives Class 1 Approval for Clean Room Applications
MUSKEGO, WISCONSIN NABCO Entrances flagship automatic sliding door, the GT 1175 Whisper Slider has been tested and approved for Class 1 vertical laminar flow clean rooms making it suitable for critical applications such as pharmaceutical, electrical, medical device, semi-conductor and biosensor manufacturing, and research laboratories.
During the two-week testing process, the door was put through a rigorous series of tests. First the room was checked to ensure it was operating at Class 1 level per Federal Standard 209E, and that there was zero background contamination. The door was then cycled open and closed 50 times. After 50 cycles, ten one-minute particle counts were taken under the motor area while the door continued to cycle. Airborne particle counts were taken around the drive housing and around the door in an even grid at a distance of about a foot from the door. The door was then cycled 100 more times during the sampling procedure. After the door was powered down another five-minute sample was taken to check for lingering contamination. After the findings were reviewed and compared to current clean room standards, the door was given the highest rating of Class 1.
